Would You Consider Reading The Rest Of This Story?

The story I’m writing is about a boy who has a dream to become a professional baseball player, but faces doubt and criticism from his family and friends. Honest opinions, please.
Chad Collins was a small, skinny teenage boy of 13 years of age. He was often teased by his fellow peers because of his nerdy appearance. He was a smart boy, and he also loved baseball.
Chad was not particularly good in sports, but there was one sport in which he excelled in: baseball. He had been interested in baseball ever since his dad had brought him to his first Major League Baseball game when he was five years old. He had seen the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim defeat the San Francisco Giants in Game 7 of the 2002 World Series.
On the way home from his first MLB game, Chad Collins had been thinking. ‘What a good job that would be,’ he thought,’ to get paid lots and lots of money to do something fun.’ “Dad?,” he asked. “What is it buddy?” Chad’s father, Robert Collins, was in a particularly good mood, obviously because his hometown baseball team had won it all. “What do I have to do to be a baseball player?,” he asked eagerly. “Well, it takes a lot of hard work and patience,” he said, wondering why his son had asked such a silly question. “I want to become a baseball player,” Chad said flat-out. His father quickly pulled over to the side of the road. “Do you really?,” he asked in astonishment. “A baseball player? Are you sure about that? As I said, it takes a lot of hard work, and by hard work, I mean HARD work.” “I know Dad. But I really want to be a pro baseball player. I really do,” Chad said. “Alright,” his father said calmly,” It’ll be hard for you, but if you work at it, you’ll be able to do it, no problem.”
Ever since Chad heard his dad say that, he had made his decision final. His dream was to become a Major League Baseball player.
