Everything changes. Sometimes we simply don’t realize it. We have a tendency to believe that alterations are permanent, that some things remain the same; or at least, we hope it were that way. Think back, “I’ve seen sunny days that I thought would never end” (1). But the truth is that change cannot be avoided. Those sunny days were bound to end from the moment they started. But wait, not only has the time changed. We have changed with it, or maybe, we have changed because of it. Anyhow, three things are certain: we are changing, the world is changing, and life is changing. Everything is changing, and everything will change, except perhaps change itself.
Stop, maybe we should talk about change first. It’s not as easy as it seems. Change is defined as the act of becoming different. It looks simple enough. Although, it may seems far more complicated in reality. Sometimes we don’t perceive differences. We don’t notice an alteration in something small or something to which we pay no attention. Biology would provide us with thousands of these changes being made in our own bodies, such as the countless cells being replaced; and the funny thing is we don’t even notice. Then again, there are differences that we perceive. The death of a loved one alters us and our lives; and we notice it. But we mustn’t be fooled. The imperceptible changes make our ways different too, and sometimes they change us in even bigger ways.
Now, we know things change. It is time to go further still. We must admit something that was merely mentioned before. Change brings change.
“Change
Said the sun to the moon,
You cannot stay.” (2)
So there is a change we have all witnessed. The moon sets. The sun rises. The sun shines upon the world. The diurnals wake up for the world is lit. We should consider this example, it makes something evident: change happens because something else changes. Evolution also illustrates this fact. Something is altered in the world, and every single organism must adapt to it.
Now, we wonder. Certainly, the world is changing. Because of it, we are changing constantly too. We have to adapt to every change, no matter how small. And there lies the problem. “We change, whether we like it or not” (3). We have to adapt fast and accept them. But most people won’t. Some are incapable of leaving the past behind, as the woman longing for her lost love; not being able to enjoy, nay, live the present. Others will live refusing every new thing, every surprise that the future holds. And then a question arises; why do people refuse to accept change?
“The mind thinks
That any change
Is painful.
The heart feels
That any change
Is powerful.” (4)
Indeed, changes are powerful things. Then, it is natural for someone to fear change; to abandon their comfortable present and take a leap into the unknown. Only one thing is certain: changes command our lives. Because of this we all fear it, as it has control over us. And here comes the trouble. We either adapt or die. So, if we refuse to change we will be unable to survive in a changing world.
“Change! Change!
If not, you will suffer.” (5)
Those are wise words. How are we supposed to live happily when moving against the current? How are we supposed to get a hold on our lives when challenging something so powerful? Well, it is not easy, and if you try you will be miserable for sure. Most people who challenge change are unable to handle it, and share a common end: suicide. In the end, suicide is just being rigid. People who try such a desperate act are doing their best to end the changes they are living; they are exchanging their life for a stop.
We know that resisting change will only make it harder, and that brings up a new word: resilience. What can we do to make our lives easier and happier? The answer is simple: not resisting change, adapting to it quickly. And there are those who are really good at it: children. Believe it or not, those little creatures are the happiest of all, and we could learn from them. They accept change, they embrace it. Nay, they go even beyond; they explore each change with delight, venturing out into a new world without looking back. Imagine if we could welcome change, ignoring whether it is good or bad, and just enjoy the moment. Life would be easier that way; and troubles would be less disturbing. Now, why do we lose that ability? That is something that we cannot answer, but still, we can try and change it. Maybe, if we discover the secret of childhood, we could become happier, and might even become better living beings

It’s pretty good. My comments are:
*”alterations are permanent, that some things remain the same”: These two ideas don’t flow together. What do you “hope it were that way”? That things change? or they remain the same? Do you want to say “even though we hope some things remain the same”?
    * “may seems” should be “may seem”
    * I would say “therein lies the problem” rather than “there …”
    * “abandon their comfortable present and take a leap”: change “and” to “to” to show these two are connected
    * “to get a hold on”: “on” should be “of”
    * “and if you try you will be miserable for sure”. I don’t agree. Many people embrace change and looking forward to it. Rather than “you”, perhaps you want “those who resist change”.
    * “Most people who challenge change”: I would change “Most” to “Some”.
    I love your last paragraph.
    Hope this helps.
