Since there has never been a Hindu candidate for office outside of congress, what are would be your opinion if a Hindu ran for office. Bear in mind Hindus are polytheistic, pretty socially liberal in general, and are alleged pagans.

I don’t have a problem with Hinduism, but then, I don’t have a problem with any religion unless it attempts to force its doctrine onto non-believers. The Hindus I know are not the type to even broach their religion, since their attitude is “If you want to become a Hindu, fine. If not, fine.”
Politically, though, Hindus are more likely to believe that actions they perform here will determine results in the next life, so they would be more inclined to social assistance programs than some others. That would make them liberal in most people’s eyes and with the current climate here, would probably be a disadvantage to them.
I often associate Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu with the cycle of a country’s life. Countries are born, thrive and then grow old and die. Often the death process is one of revolution and then rebirth into a new country. I am not Hindu but I know all major world religions well and I see analogies in them with politics.
I would vote for the Hindu only if they were Conservative-Libertarian which is what I am. It is unlikely they would be because they tend toward Asian political styles of thinking.
I don’t care what religion a person is: Catholic, Hindu, Muslim, Greek-Orthodox, some weird fruit worshiping cult, Satanism, whatever. I want to know what he/she is going to do to get us out of the mess we are in. If he/she has the best ideas, I’m going to vote for him/her.
I’m an atheist. I really am not swayed by what god/s you feel the need to pray too.
But I would like to see a Buddhist or Taoist on the ballot. I don’t know much about hindu, except that it is rooted in Jainism, But any offshoot of Jainism is preferable to these bloodthirsty desert gods.
I would vote for Hindu, just as I would vote for a Jew, a Catholic, a Muslim a Protestant, a Morman, or an atheist: it depends entirely on who is best for the job, not how they pray or do not pray.
Religion is not something to mix with politics or policy, but I don’t care about the religion of my candidates. I’d even vote for a Satanist if their political ideas appealed to me.
I wouldn’t care. I see all faiths as a bunch of superstitious mumbo-jumbo.
I will not vote for anybody who wears their religion on their sleeve. I would prefer a different reason for war this time around.
I don’t hold religion in mind when voting – but I am in tune with the hindu religion and would like to see others who are as well.
who gives a ****
Let me see him first !
Sure, if I agree with his/her stances.
I don’t know anything about the Hindu faith, but I’m sure I’d vote for a Hindu before I voted for a Muslim that supports Islam the way Obama does.
No non-Christian will ever be president of this country, and thank God for it.
Edit: hehe you claim Americans are open and then resorted to namecalling ; )
