I am just starting to really get into the whole “Subwoofer” scene, so i don’t know all that much yet, But I just ordered 2 of the 2010 12″ Alpine Type-R’s, and was wondering what kind of amp i should get.
Here’s the Link to them…

I have been looking at some crunch and Hifonics amps because I have heard they are decent, but I’m not really sure how to tell if they would be good for me. I don’t want to spend all that much, probably about 200 bucks would be nice, the lower the better, but don’t get me wrong, i want quality stuff. If you could just tell me what to look for as I browse, that would be awesome. If you have some specific amps you think would work better, links would be great.

Hifonics are decent amps though not under rated like other brands. Still for the money they work fine. Both Crunch and Hifonics are made by the same company, Maxxsonics with Hifonics being the better and most popular of the two. The main thing you need to pay attention to is the actual continuous (rms) power rating and associated fuse. Estimate 100 watts per 10 amp fuse rating. Not dead on but close enough to tell if the manufacturer is lying. IE a amp that states it puts out 1000 rms watts but only has a 40 amp fuse total is incapable of such power and is falsifying specs. It should have a 100 amp fuse or somewhere close to if not a tad over.
