windows is a big pie, let's eating

I have a netbook and found out that I needed to upgrade the RAM to 1GB in order to change over to Windows 7. I bought 1GB RAM and installed in on the netbook and when I ran Windows Upgrade again, it said I only had 896MB of RAM available. Can I still put Windows 7 on it, or do I need to purchase 2GB RAM instead?

I heard that you need some installation disc to make sure your keyboard and other peripherals work when installing windows on a mac only problem is i lost that disc so is there somewhere i can download it? and then burn it on a disc

Now i want to use the internet on my phone using Wifi, now if i connect to a wifi will it use my data? And also if i switch the data connection off and go on the internet using wifi is that using my plan or the wifi! Cuz when i switch my data connection off the H on the top of my screen disappears. So basically what i am asking is there a way to make sure that my phone will only use the wifi when i am connected to it and not my data, so even if the wifi disapears and i have my data connection switched off , will it not use my data ( plan) at all!?

Ok in all my browsers it wont let me download anything nothing happns… if i boot in safe mode i can download… iv tryed everything.. please help.. windows 7 home prem….all web browsers.. no error just wont start downloads

I know a little bit about computers, not a lot but enough to do some cool things with the help of the internet. I want to install Linux and maybe take one apart. I know i could set up a server or a network on them, but I don’t really know what I should do. Does anyone have any cool ideas?
They are about 6 years old, but in pretty good shape. They run Windows 2000 and I also got a switch. I am willing to buy hardware and software too if anyone could suggest anything.

I purchased a one month old cockatiel two nights ago and I’ve been incredibly unlucky with him. As soon as my brother was placing seed in his cage he escaped, and was attacked by our dachshund/sausage dog, but nothing serious but a few feathers were missing and we’ve kept a close eye on the dog since, but the bird was still loose flying around our house and flew into windows at least 3 times and ended up with a bloody beak, any chance he could of taken brain damage or permanent trauma? After we got hold of him and he has eaten and drunk for the first time last night, but will only being hand fed by me. He still bites and squeels when being taken out of his cage this morning, but when he’s settled on my lap he seems to be fine except for him closing the left eye but keeping the right eye open when being stroked. I’m afraid if he isn’t damaged/traumatized he won’t attach to me now after I’ve been the only one grabbing him out of his cage and when he escapes finding him and putting him back in his cage, am I worrying over nothing or is there a possibility that he could be brain damaged or traumatized.
P.S I’m handling him as much as possible in hope he will attach to me.

My grandparents just bought me a new laptop. It came to about 600 dollars after everything.
It has a AMD Quad-Core A8 Series Accelerated Processor, AMD Radeon HD 6520G graphic card, 6gb RAM and it has Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium (64b) for an operating system.
I don’t do a lot of gaming on it, so that is the question. I use it mainly to talk to friends, facebook, youtube, take notes for class, etc
So, was this computer worth the money?

(I put this in “programing” because I figured This was the best place to find Linux users. All the other categories seemed to be full of PC/Mac guys.)
That may or may not have made sense, but I’m looking to replace Jolicloud on my little netbook? I go to an online school and It involves a lot (a-LOT) of streaming videos. So having a full version desktop OS doesnt quite work… I like Jolicloud, but It doesn’t feel right… Clunky, and the false “user friendly” interface… Some things are way too complex then they should be. As in accessing a file on my Windows OS from Joili is nearly impossible. Where as Windows accessing joli is literally nothing at all.
I’m looking to replace it. I have a high end desktop which I use 99% of the time so It wont have hardly any hardcore use every day. (that’s probably irrelevant) But I need it to WORK! Joli keeps bugging up at the worst times. Like Business trips, and vacations… (Impossible to tell if its a bad OS or I broke it somehow) I heard both good and bad reviews for Jolicloud so I don’t know what to make of it… Is it really at the top end of netbook OS’s?! (highly unlikely) or is it a piece of crap?
As you can probably tell I have no idea whats going on… I know what Linux is. But not really how to use it, I’m still learning. I’m almost completely in the dark about this… I’m a windows user (gamer… so I have to be…) and i know how to use that pretty well. But Linux is completely alien to me. Can someone help me outwith where I should go next? I’m going to Nashvile on a Business trip in two weeks and I need this working. And I hate joli.
I would prefer to not have cloud computing…? I don’t like stuff being only accessible on the internet.. (yes I am are that the one I have now is Joli*cloud* that’s where the hatred comes from.) But If the best one out there (for me) is cloud, ehh, no big deal.
Yes I am a Linux idiot. Yes I asked a stupid question. there is no such thing as “Best”.
JoliCloud is Unbuntu based.
And an important note. I can’t access Window. only jolicloud is accessible… I kinda broke windows… When I select it in BIOS it goes into an internal crash dump sequence that even me and my Tech buddies cant fix without wiping the drive and starting over… and I want to avoid that. Hence this question. And I did have Joli before it broke. Lucky break really…

I’ve been putting up with this problem for along time. For some reason, my cursor randomly right clicks repeatedly and it happens at anytime. I also can’t click on windows sometimes until I right-click the tab in the taskbar. It is a pain to edit a word document because it won’t let me click on the area I want to edit. I searched all over the internet and I can’t find a solution. My laptop wasn’t like this before and I used my anti-virus to check for any viruses but there were none? Help please.
