simple do it yourself bed canopies are an easy way to add points of interest to boring rooms, and also give your bed more privacy. plug in, or ceiling mounted lights can add extra light. Also a really unique idea to brighten the space is to use fabric on one wall as an accent wall instead of paint or more traditional wall paper. also if the room is small, with little space for furniture, wall decals are a unique and fun way to make the room appear larger without actually having the furniture.

Check with Moonpuppet, one of my contacts. She’s got plenty of fine decorating ideas, esp. if you’re a fan of the Wizard of Oz. Also–have you considered a ceiling mirror? Makes the room automatically feel much larger, but if you have a dog or a cat and they notice the mirror, it could disorient them dangerously….please check with your veterinarian before investing in this item. How about holograms? You might want to look into holograms that appear to be windows–a very charming, science-fiction-y kind of feel. If the room is ugly, there is no question you need to adorn it with beauty. That’s pretty simple and logical, eh? So, magazine photos of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton should be a good idea, and other photos and paintings of: the Grand Canyon, the rainforest in South America, Mount Fuji….etc. etc. Ever thought of these? Lava lamps are cute, and a great way to distract people’s attention so they won’t notice how ugly the walls might be at the moment.

I would stick with the lightest tones of what ever color you like…if you like girly pink just paint a very light version of it and the ceiling white to reflect light. Keep the room very simple and basic…uncluttered. If you get several important pieces of furniture and keep the clutter down, it should look bigger. Also go to a lighting dept somewhere and buy some daylight bulbs for your lights. They acually simulate daylight and give a much needed bright cheery feeling….Also you said you have no door….do you have a doorway? If so, you could hang a clear or colored beaded curtain over it to give it a light airy feeling…not really a curtain but it’s just beads. Beat wishes in your new room…you can definitely make it homey and nice to be in. ” )

Forget the lava lamp, that is out dated and so yesterday (er last century). Yank everything out and give it a good coating of paint. Fresh paint always does wonders on changing a atmosphere of a room.
Paint the ceiling a bright white to reflect light. Try to accent the walls. Two tone allows the room to adjust with lighting and mood. Go to your local Lowe’s or paint store and ask for color samples to help select colors. Seen is much better when trying to put together a theme for any room. Good Luck.

Spring color on the walls, add some art, get a lava lamp serious, and keep the tv around 20 inches, or it will make the room seem small.
