Excel: Write A Formula That Calculates Each Employees Vacation Time Earned For The Year.?

By WinPie Posted in: Uncategorized

Those employees have been accruing vacation time at a rate of 1.54 hours per 40 hours worked each week, for a maximum of 80 hour per year. If the employee hasn’t worked their full 40 hours that week, they earn a proportional fraction of their vacation pay. If they have worked overtime, they only earn the maximum of 1.54 hours for the week. Employees do not earn vacation time for vacation hours taken in the pay period.
Here are the titles to the columns on line1
A1= ID
B1= TITLE
C1= FIRST NAME
D1= LAST NAME
E1= HOURS WORKED TO DATE
F1= HOURS WORKED THIS PAY PERIOD
G1= HOURS TOTAL HOURS WORKED (The formula for this is =Sum(E2:F2)
H1= YTD Vacation (This is the formula that I need)

  2. Punartha Says

    H1 = (G2 *1.54)/40
    You have to have additional columns to calculate and exclude vacation taken, then the columns will increase( Vacation taken already, total, Vacation taken this week, etc)
    Try the above

  4. Don G Says

    Since vacation hrs earned are limited to the first 40 hrs worked per week, you need to calculate vacation hrs earned on a weekly basis. So Col E is of no use. Col F must be limited to max of 40 hrs, x .0385 = Vacation hrs earned (1.54 / 40)
    Not sure the best way to stop at 40 hrs. Either manually or perhaps using Excel’s Data / Validation / Settings / Allow / Decimals / Up to and Including.
