I’m trying to run a certain .exe but it doesn’t even show as an executable. It is listed as simply a “file”. When I click on it, it asks what program I should open it in. How do I fix this?

Rename it to.exe then.
If it’s showing as “File” then the file doesn’t have an extension, .exe or any other. Try it yourself. Windows either recognizes the extension (.exe gets Application, for instance) or it uses the extension as the “type” For instance, my C:Windows directory contains a file named bootstat.dat, which Windows Explorer claims is a “DAT File”.
So try adding a .exe to the end of that executable’s name (and is it really, I wonder?) and see if that’s runnable.
Good luck.
That ‘exe’ might be a virus.
So you might want to go do a virus check just in case.
Hi,
It could be that the file is corrupt.
What program is it?
