There really is no way to tell, I’ve seen this go both ways.
In my experiences, HP keys will not work with non HP windows installation discs.
Also, HP has been known to NOT tatoo some of their boards (unlike Dell, who tatoo’s EVERYTHING).
In that case, it’ll work fine.
Also, most Hp’s boards are the reverse format, which means that you CANNOT replace the board with a consumer board (it will be backwards).
You would be better off building a system from scratch.

shouldn’t have to, even with an oem hp mobo. just replace and setup and you should be ok to go, considering mobo meets compatability needs.
