2.66 Celeron D Vs 3ghz P4 W/ Hyperthreading?

By WinPie Posted in: windows

So I have 2 motherboards. One supports the Celeron D and the other supports Pentium 4.
Pentium 4 is 3GHz and has hyperthreading enabled. This runs Windows 7 perfectly.
Celeron D is 2.66GHZ, I just got the board and I haven’t used it yet (although I know it works for a fact)
I know there is a big speed difference, but which one will dominate which?

The old Celerons including the “D” series are severely castrated Pentiums. The Celeron D will never approach the performance of a Pentium 4 even if the Celeron is overclocked.
But the Celeron D would still be decent enough for light applications such as web browsing/downloading, MP3, video and simple office applications.

Celeron is Intel’s lowest CPU line
A Pentium 4 @ 3GHz with or without HT will out do a Celeron any day especially if it’s clocked lower
